All-Day Dreaming of Where We'll Travel (Near and Far) After All Restrictions are Lifted, That is!
Road tripping: Sunny Santa Barbara, CA
This coastal city’s nickname the “American Riviera” is well deserved. Santa Barbara radiates modern sensibilities balanced with old-world charm. Although a drive to this stunner of a town is a mere 2 hours from Los Angeles, it feels like a trip back in time. The gorgeous Spanish architecture, luscious beaches, and adorable shops and restaurants along leafy State Street is a breath of fresh air for us city folk. Santa Barbara feels worlds apart from LA, still it’s comforting to know we can always do the unthinkable – interrupt our stay and drive back home if we absolutely need to.
Santa Barbara offers a slower tempo and cooler temps. Arriving from LA, the air quality is noticeably different, cleaner. And the perfect patch of sand to capture unobscured sunset ocean views of the Channel Islands is always easy to find. In fact, turn around and you’ll be rewarded with views of the Santa Ynez mountains as well. It’s 360-degree eye candy no matter where you’re sitting and which direction you look!
Santa Barbara offers many all-inclusive beach resorts. For LA drivers like us, ditching the car for a long weekend is pure bliss. Once we settle in, there’s no need to drive out. But when we do miss the open road (we are from LA, after all), there are a ton of family-friendly options to explore, as well as beaches, wineries, and fantastic casual dining options.
When we venture out, our favorite spot to grab a lunch and stretch our legs is San Ysidro Ranch. Located in the nearby foothills of Montecito, San Ysidro Rancho extends rustic wine country with luxurious accommodations to visitors. The grounds are delightful, whether it’s a short stop for lunch or a weekend-long stay. The gardens are our favorite, and we’re in good company it seems as Vivien Leigh and Sir Laurence Olivier exchanged vows here.
Jet Setting to Asia
Asia is where our roots and hearts belong. We visit frequently to see friends and family. In fact, we had a trip scheduled to visit this summer but well… you know…
There’s something magical about arriving in another country and yet still feel so comfortable. We embrace this sense of belonging and enjoy picking up where we last left off. In Asia, we’re at ease to navigate on our own, meet up with our tribe of locals, and relish in this sense of this familiarity that nourishes us. We’re home.
Jet Setting to Europe
Europe’s hold over us goes deep. In contrast to the familiarity we feel when traveling to Asia, a European vacation is always a novelty. After we’ve gotten an eyeful of the main sites, we steer away to the backstreets, basking in the presence of former times.
What we like most about Europe is the blend of modern architecture with classic heritage. For those of you familiar with our designs, this combo of old meets new is integral to our line. Nothing excites us more than when a modern POV and a classic silhouette marries perfectly, hand-in-hand.
Of all our European adventures, we prefer Tuscany the most for the food and wine. We’re always inspired by Rome for its history and culture, and Paris for people watching and café life.
Here’s to Future Journeys, Together Again
Times are challenging; however, we’re motivated to get passed this with visions to see friends and family once again. A bit of daydreaming to exotic locales, near and far helps too. Whatever your daydreams may be, we wish them to be full of hope and joy of the future.
